Bipolar Transmission – martindx & elasticlego In the Spring of 2001 two musicians: elasticlego and martindx, separated by 5372 miles, an 8 hour time difference and a large ocean, began a musical collaboration.
“We were looking for something different, a new way of working and after listening to CDs of each others previous work we knew something was possible. We set up some free online web space, and throughout the summer used it to exchange short sound samples we had created. These ranged from sounds of a shutting door, opening a bar of chocolate, passing cars, statics and glitches, to voices and rhythmic loops. By the autumn we had a pool of 100 sound samples and were ready to create longer compositions.”
